The query was regarding RITZ ORIGINAL CRACKERS 350 G.

Following concerns were reviewed:

1. Any animal byproducts in the ingredients.

After correspondence with the company and reviewing all the data available to us at this time, we have concluded that:

RITZ ORIGINAL CRACKERS 350 G are doubtful due to consumer care not being willing to disclose the source of the “Amylase” or “Protease” used in the product. Muslim consumers are strongly advised to find suitable alternatives.

Christie Ritz Crackers has now been marked Halal Suitable.

  • The products contains protease and amylase. In correspondence we have been informed that these could be from animal source.
  • However, at the same time our research shows OU-Kosher has certified it as Kosher-Dairy, rendering it Halal Suitable.
    • So as long as you can see the (U)-D stamp on the packaging, it should be halal suitable, otherwise we would caution from consuming this product.
  • HMA Halal Check has approved Ritz’s Original crackers and marked it suitable for vegan
